Reflection on Camtasia video tutorial lesson

Using videos in the classroom is a very good idea. Not only it provides a teacher with a wide range of astonishing benefits but it's a fun experiment for kids as well and they will certainly appreciate the entire experience to begin with. It's all about having the right approach and attention to detail here something that every teacher should focus on if he/she wants to deliver the best results. So I have learnt how to make video tutorial using Camtasia studio and it was really a success.

  I know how to capture the PowerPoint and videos on it. I also got the skills of editing the video

Moreover, I understood that videos can easily showcase 3D images, animations, and unique concepts and so on. It will also integrate experiments that are hard to perform in class or which can pose quite a lot of danger. On top of that, videos have the ability to bring literature, music, history and many other interesting things directly in front of the users. It's fun, easy to do, refine and it does provide you with a very good value.

So, Camtasia lesson brings more learning outcomes.

Reflection

Different people prefer different learning styles. No person uses one style of learning styles but they do prefer different learning styles. It is therefore important to attempt to cater for all learning styles during lessons.’ The learning styles are gathered by a system in which is VAK that stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. It is meant to be perceived that learners learn better by hearing and seeing. So it is intended to conclude that learner learns better by hearing and seeing and learning is a combination of auditory, visual and kinesthetic. Firstly I understood that teaching a child in the way they learn caters most effective tools to teach them as children have different learning modes.  

 Relating with my personal experiences, I argue that Kinesthetic takes better role than visual and auditory. It’s because it includes hand on approach and actively exploring the physical world around them. It is the most popular type of learning with students where teachers help them to gain a better understanding of the material. Moreover, it accumulates the self-esteem and confident of a child as the child deals everything with hand on experiences.

 For example like learning ICT in practical is most understandable ways rather than giving the theory class. There is no doubt that it provides educators with a unique opportunity to enrich the minds of the students to have room for exploring more by doing.  With this style of learning, children are also engaged in positive social interaction, develop problem-solving skills and can apply creativity through self-expression.

For example, students learning dances from different cultures can help our students/children appreciate the value of diverse cultures. When children get to mingle with other children in a group it will help them develop positive social interactions where they learn to communicate and cooperate.  They also learn the values of trust, discipline, and persistence. Skills such as creative thinking, problem-solving, observation can also be developed by engaging students in creative kinesthetic activities in doing so students are aware of multicultural education and social skills. Finally, we as a teacher should discover our student’s learning styles so that they get the concept meaningfully and to prepare for their future in his or her life.

Digital natives and immigrants

We discussed on use of technologies in the classroom, paradigm shift in educational philosophy, then digital natives and immigrants. It is very important to use technologies in the classroom since ICT in education develops children’s cognitive skills, collaboration, knowledge retention, and individual learning. According to experienced teachers who use ICT in their classrooms, that ICT may make the classroom controlling more effortless because ICT provides materials that make the class more interesting and easy to control (Cox and Webb, 2003). 

ICT assisted students to be more creative in their learning process and it is beneficial to support problem-solving by using different ICT facilities such as software programs (word documents, PowerPoint and YouTube). Today, learners have thousands of resources by using ICT in condition while sitting in their home not by searching for knowledge in libraries. Presentations became visual and auditory for students in addition to using software programs like PowerPoint. However, all these factors need effective teachers and management or administrators to apply and achieve these effective benefits on students.

We have also discussed the digital natives and digital immigrants where we were asked to share our views on this topic online. Many have shared their views on this topic and for me, I understood that the digital natives are those who were born in the 21^st century where there is advanced in technologies and getting children get an opportunity to explore and experience a different kind of technologies from kindergarten to colleges. 

In the other point, digital immigrants are those people who were born without much knowledge on technologies but get an opportunity to learn later in life.

To have a fun and enjoyable classroom setting, it is vital for teacher to have an activity for the kids whether using ICT or without ICT instead of giving lecture throughout the session.

The usage of technology in the classroom creates a conducive learning environment where students get motivated to learn that develop dynamic and interesting classroom. The technology improves the engagement of learner where it builds a degree of attention, curiosity, interest, optimism, and passion to learn. Digital Rights and Responsibilities

Everyone has equal rights and responsibility to access to technology and understand the drawbacks and limitations when this access is inoperative. Most of the people in society are using the internet to access online libraries or eBook. It also provides extended time for those students with special needs to work on their assignment or projects. But we as a user should know rights and responsibilities of ourselves.

Digital citizens should consider that there is essentially a virtual bill of rights protecting everyone online. Thus, issues such as privacy, free speech, and so on apply to the digital user. The privileges and freedoms extended to all digital technology users, and the behavioral expectations that come with them.

Digital citizens must know how to use technology in an appropriate manner. We have got right to create, share and express freely our own work and also right to refer others work but should get permission from the author. If we refer others ideas in our work, it’s our responsibility to thank the author.

Every good digital citizen should employ electronic precautions to guarantee safety such as creating secure passwords, not sharing passwords, backing up data, antivirus protection and surge control. Passwords can be created for word documents, PowerPoint presentations, face book, etc. So, as a teacher it’s our responsibility to share these things to our students.

Reflection on Microsoft Word

Microsoft lets us create, edit, view, and share our files quickly and easily. It is helpful tools for every one of us to make documents, often we called words. Microsoft word has been used widely across the world by all the educators. It offers the kind of adding the latest date and time to document. It only takes seconds to update the date and time, so word helps in updating it automatically. 

Microsoft word makes work very easy. We can translate languages by using the translate feature. We can not only translate a word we can translate whole sentences. If the documents that we are writing needs graph, the new word feature has made it easier to create a graph using the Insert tab, and click table. We can use as much as we need. And if we don’t need the graph, select Microsoft chart and can delete as shown in the option.

I have gained lots of knowledge by using this software. It improves our language as well. While writing any document, if we make mistake or spelling mistake, it's automatically shown with the green underline on the word. So, we just need to click on the word and it gives a correct spilling and grammatically correct. While doing an assignment, Microsoft helps us so much. We don’t have to use a pen and paper like we used to do; we just need to type on laptops or computers using this software.

Microsoft word is an important education application. As a teacher using different teaching strategies while teaching can enhance the learning. Using Microsoft is one way to teach learners. When I was on teaching practice, I saw an English teacher teaching how to write letters, the teacher uses a computer lap and with the use of computer she gave lots of examples of leave letters. And I taught class four science, I was asked to prepare questions for the exam. So, I used Microsoft word and it makes my work very easier. I have to show to my mentor before the exam. My mentor found out lots of mistakes and need to edit lots. So, it’s very easy to edit on this software as we don’t have to take a pen and paper and write on it. I just took a few minutes to edit on Microsoft. So, am going to use Microsoft word to document any things throughout my life as it has lots of benefits.

As a future teacher using ICT is best teaching tools for teachers. It will include all the types of learners in learning. ICT is interactive, fun, meaningful and interesting. And it is easy to teach using ICT. You can create teaching learning materials using text, word art, shapes, colors and images that will explore creativity in the students. Other than that teacher can type and edit question paper in Microsoft word and it can helps to create error-free documents. 

In the first session we had learned about digital natives and immigrants. As a teacher, should know who all are digital natives and what are the teaching strategies they prefer. Children now are digital natives and are obvious that they prefer ICT in learning. Teacher must know how to use ICT and accordingly have to apply the different types of teaching strategies to different types of learners.

And we have learned about technology integration. Integration technology with teaching means the use of learning technologies to introduce, reinforce, supplement and extend skills while teaching. It’s the way their classes are conducted. I came to know that using projector or computer is not integration. So, to call as technology integration, teacher must follow up in everything they teach using computers. 

ICT is best method to teach the students. Students participates when the teacher uses different ways of teaching and ICT is one method to have active learning.
